JBM EV says it is the first Indian company to launch an electric bus in Singapore. Along with Nishant Arya, company Chairman Dr Shilpak Ambule, Indian High Commissioner to Singapore Dr Shilpak Ambule attended the launch of Ecolife e12.
The Ecolife e12 that JBM EV has launched in Singapore looks different compared to the versions it offers in the Indian and European markets, and that is because the company ordered the bodywork for this version from Malaysian bus bodybuilder Gemilang Coachwork. The bus has an all-aluminum monocoque body, measures 12 meters long, 2.6 meters wide and 3.2 meters high, and has a wheelbase of 5.9 meters.
JBM EV says the Singapore-spec Ecolife e12 is a low-floor model, but has not yet revealed the floor height. The bus has an electronically controlled air suspension with a kneeling function that lowers it by 60mm, making it easier for passengers to get on and off, especially those with mobility issues. It has capacity for 84 passengers, with 28 seats, two spaces for wheelchairs and space for 54 people standing. It weighs 14 tons and has a gross vehicle weight of 19 tons.
A 250 kW motor powers this particular Ecolife e12 and draws electricity from a 525 kWh battery that can be charged via two CCS2 ports, each rated at 300 amps. JBM EV says it can reach a top speed of 60 km/h and travel 320 kilometers on a single charge. The company equips it with safety features such as forward vehicle collision warning systems, lane departure warning system, pedestrian and cyclist collision warning, blind spot detection, driver drowsiness and distraction warning, and a 360° camera system.
JBM EV has established its APAC headquarters in Singapore, and this office serves not only the ASEAN markets but also Australia, New Zealand and other parts of the region, Arya said at the launch of Ecolife e12. The company is present in 27 markets around the world and has sold more than 4,000 electric buses, which have served more than 1.5 billion passengers and together have traveled more than 500 million kilometers, he added.
