Iberdrola installs a solar plant in Oregon with more than 100,000 panels to provide electricity to 10,000 homes
Iberdrola, through its US subsidiary Avangrid, Installation of panels at Oregon Trail Solar has begunits new 57 MWdc (41 MWac) photovoltaic plant located in Gilliam County, in the state of Oregon. This milestone marks an important advance in the construction of the solar park, whose development currently supports around 200 direct and indirect jobs in the area.
Oregon Trail Solar will reinforce electrification in the United Statescontributing both to respond to the growth in electricity demand with clean energy and to boost the local economy through the creation of employment and economic activity.
Impact on supply
The plant will come into operation next year and will have more than 100,000 solar panels installed on Gilliam County land. Once completed, the installation will produce Enough clean energy to power approximately 10,000 American homes each year.
Along with its impact on employment, Oregon Trail Solar will promote the economic development of the region throughout its useful lifethrough property taxes and other local contribution mechanisms.
Schools and infrastructure
These fiscal resources will help finance essential public services in the areaincluding Gilliam County schools and infrastructure. Oregon Trail Solar also adds to the growing portfolio of generation projects that Avangrid develops in Oregon, a state where the company already has a consolidated presence.
The plant is located next to Pachwáywit Fields, a 205 MWdc (162 MWac) solar installation that is already operationaland together with Shutler Energy Storage, a large-scale battery project with 41 MW of installed power and 82 MWh of storage capacity.

Currently, Avangrid manages more than 2,500 MW of installed capacity in Oregonwhere it also has its National Training Center, located in Sherman County, and a relevant corporate office in Portland.
