Between early July and late September, Tesla built as many electric vehicles as it had not built in the previous two years: The 464,000 vehicles produced now last matched nearly 470,000 units in the third quarter of 2024. Compared to the same quarter last year, the 464,000 cars represent an increase of 3.7 percent, while production increased 2.7 percent compared to the second quarter of 2026.

A closer look at deliveries also reveals an upward trend throughout the year: 486,000 vehicles represents only a 1.2 percent increase compared to the second quarter of 2026, but this quarter itself was around 25 percent higher than the seasonally weaker first quarter. Last year, Tesla almost hit the 500,000 mark in the third quarter. This time, the American electric vehicle manufacturer does not achieve that result.

If we look at the model range statistics published in Tesla’s brief statement on production and deliveries: with 457,387 Model 3/Y vehicles produced and 478,237 delivered, the vast majority (as usual) falls on the two mid-range models. The ‘other’ model ranges (mainly Cybertruck, Semi and any remaining Model S and Model X inventory) accounted for a marginal 7,004 units produced and 8,295 delivered.

In addition to vehicles, Tesla is also addressing the installation of energy storage products. In the third quarter, the company delivered 13.7 GWh of large-scale home storage systems and commercial batteries. Tesla will reveal how all this translates into revenue and profit statistics on October 21 with the release of its third-quarter financial results, which typically occur in the late afternoon European time.
