Train accident: ICE hits a flock of sheep near Hanau – route closed

An ICE is on the route between Offenbach and Hanau collided with a herd of sheep that had probably escaped. A federal police spokeswoman said 10 to 15 sheep were killed in the morning accident. There were around 120 passengers on the train, none of whom were injured. The train driver had to brake emergencyly. The route is still closed. According to RMV, the S9 is affected.
According to the Federal Police still to be clarified. The shepherd had already arrived at the train station in Hanau. The ICE train that was pulled into the station after the accident is now being cleaned there. Meanwhile, the dead sheep are still being removed from the route. Initially, several media outlets reported on the accident.
