20 police cars chase a minor for 19 kilometers after skipping a checkpoint
Last Monday, Mallorca became the scene of a real movie police chase. The main protagonist of this unusual event was a minor who did not hesitate to skip a Civil Guard traffic control, triggering a frantic escape that lasted for 19 kilometers and that mobilized a massive deployment of up to 20 police cars.
The events occurred during the night, when the teenager behind the wheel came face to face with a Benemérita checkpoint. Said device had been specifically established in the Palmanova town with the aim of preventing and prosecuting crimes against property.
Without thinking twice, and with the firm intention of avoiding the agents at all costs, the young man decided to step on the accelerator, continue driving at high speed and start a dizzying flight to evade arrest.
From that moment on, a rapid escape began. The youngest began to head roundabouts in the opposite directionputting road safety at serious risk, and rushed towards the Balearic capital through the Andratx highway.
Given the seriousness of the situation, the alert was immediately raised among the security forces. Quickly, the fleeing driver gathered a total of 20 cars behind his vehicle, both the National Police and the Civil Guardwho joined the monitoring and tried to intercept him in a coordinated operation. Thus, the minor traveled 19 kilometers defying the patrols.
Already inside the Balearic capital, the teenager took the Joan Miró Avenuein the vicinity of the Paseo Marítimo, keeping law enforcement in suspense. The tense race continued through the streets of the city until finally ending in the La Soledad neighborhoodpoint where the agents managed to cut him off, intercept the car and proceed to arrest him.
The minor’s arrest was not the only one that occurred at the scene. The rest of the occupants who were traveling in the same vehicle were also immediately arrested by the agents after trying to physically attack the police.
At the moment, it is unknown whether the perpetrators of the events were driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, but what happened constitutes a clear crime of reckless driving.
