Apple today released 27.2 updates for its operating systems including iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, etc.
Let’s start with iOS 27.2. This update focuses heavily on Siri AI. Adds a memory feature to Siri, so it can “remember your past conversations” and reference them when chatting with you. It also expands the data sources Siri can access when giving responses to include voice messages, message attachments, and more.
On the other hand, there’s now an “Excluded Apps” option that lets you “choose which apps can access Siri, Search, and Suggestions.” Additionally, Siri AI is now available in five more languages besides English, as previously announced: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, although Siri AI is not yet available in Europe (or mainland China).
Other additions include contextual suggestions within Messages (like converting a message inviting you to something to a calendar entry), support for SynthID watermarks in Photos, and support for user profiles in the Apple TV app. There’s also the new Apple Music branding, plus the arrival of previously promised Apple Pencil support on the foldable iPhone Duo.
macOS Golden Gate 27.2 offers some of the same things: contextual memory for Siri, the same additional Siri AI languages, and various unspecified bug fixes. The same goes for the Apple Watch; again, mostly the same Siri-related updates. visionOS 27.2 also includes new languages and an updated Music icon.
Additionally, as previously discovered in beta builds of macOS 27.2, there are some references to new gesture recognition capabilities in apps like Photos, Notes, and Safari, which may be related to unconfirmed reports of touch support in the next MacBook Pro update, which may be revealed in a public briefing scheduled for this Wednesday.
