To mark the start of the new model year, Opel is expanding the Astra range with a new basic equipment variant called Astra Start. This reduces the entry price of the Astra as a mild hybrid, diesel, and also the electric variant, the Astra Electric. The Rüsselsheimer brand now offers the latter starting at 36,490 euros. The next higher equipment level, the Edition, costs from 38,490 euros if combined with the electric transmission.
Even in the new Start version, the Astra is still fully equipped as standard. However, customers will have to do without the heat pump, which is no longer included as standard. The 180-degree rear view camera and keyless entry and start system are also not available on the Astra Start. That said, there are no changes to the core technology, which includes a 115 kW drivetrain and a 55 kWh battery (with charging capability of 11 kW AC and up to 100 kW DC). Features such as six-way adjustable seats, automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, and two instrument and infotainment screens in the cabin remain standard equipment. Additionally, a new metallic blue paint option is available.
For an additional 500 euros, the Astra Start can be upgraded with the so-called ‘Start Comfort Package’. This includes, among other features, heat-insulating glazing, an auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror, a center armrest and a roof rail (on the Sports Tourer).
“With the launch of the new Start version, we now offer Opel Astra customers an even more attractive offer,” said Patrick Dinger, CEO of Opel Deutschland. “Depending on the drive system variant, they can save up to 1,900 euros by owning a ‘made in Germany’ car that is already comprehensively equipped. In this way, we make individual mobility even more accessible to everyone, regardless of their preferred drive system, and at the same time much more affordable than many of our competitors.”
The Rüsselsheimer manufacturer presents the new Start equipment line in several models, including the Opel Frontera and the Opel Combo. The aim of this initiative is to offer “attractive basic versions with a particularly good price-quality ratio”.
