BYD wasted no time and sales of its new flagship electric sedan reached 4,000 units in just 19 days since its launch.

BYD Great Han EV sales rise after launch

With a record of more than 300,000 electric vehicles sold last month, BYD sold more electric vehicles than the United States in the entire third quarter combined.

Much of the increased demand is due to BYD’s latest innovative technology, including its second-generation Blade batteries and flash charging technology.

BYD began equipping vehicles with the new battery and charging technology in March, and over the past six months has seen stronger year-over-year sales growth. Until October, BYD sold 1,953,700 vehicles, 6% more than in the same period in 2025.

On October 13, BYD launched the Great Han, or “Da Han” in China, the first all-electric D-segment flagship sedan in its Dynasty lineup.

Just 19 days after its launch, BYD said sales of the Great Han EV reached 4,000 units. At that rate, sales could reach 10,000 or more in its first full month.

With “unparalleled high value,” BYD said, “it has firmly established itself in the mid-to-high-end sedan segment above 250,000 yuan,” which is equivalent to about $37,500.

The Great Han is available in three variants, priced from 235,900 yuan, or around $35,000. Buyers can choose between single- and dual-motor powertrains. The standard Premium version with rear-wheel drive (RWD) offers up to 1,008 km (626 miles) of CLTC range, while the flagship variant with all-wheel drive (AWD) offers up to 880 km (546 miles).

All models use a 102,326 kWh BYD Blade 2.0 battery. RWD models have a single 370 kW (496 hp) motor, while the AWD variant adds a 200 kW (268 hp) front motor for a combined total of 570 kW (764 hp).

Like most of its new vehicles, the Great Han has a roof-mounted LiDAR and BYD’s God’s Eye B, a more advanced version of its intelligent driving system.

The ADAS system offers safety and convenience features, including Autopilot navigation on highways and cities, as well as remote autonomous parking.

All variants also include premium features such as BYD’s DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension system, rear-wheel steering and zero-gravity front seats.

Measuring 5,256mm long, 1,999mm wide and 1,510mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,130mm, the Great Han is slightly larger than the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air. It is closer in size to the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Thanks to second-generation Blade batteries and BYD’s Flash Charging technology, the vehicle’s battery can be charged from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes. A full recharge (10% to 97%) takes only 9 minutes.

The Great Han joins the Great Tang SUV as the flagship sedan of BYD’s Dynasty lineup. BYD announced that sales of the Great Tang reached 14,000 units in October, marking four months of sales exceeding 10,000.
