If one form of energy became the cheapest, safest, and cleanest, you would probably adjust your economy to use more of it, right?
That’s one of the ideas underlying a report the International Energy Agency released last week on the global trend toward electrification. Fatih Birol, head of the IEA, discussed some of the concepts from the report at the United Nations the following day.
“For many, many years in the energy world, we were faced with three choices: Should I choose the safest energy option? Should I choose the most economical energy option? Or should I choose the cleanest energy option?” he asked. “We have to make decisions, we have to make compromises, but when we look at the world today, for the first time in years, all three of these goals are aligned.”
