Google has already added some AI features to the Play Store, but there are many more to come. The previously launched Ask Play feature is expanding to offer more AI-powered discovery options in the Google App Store, and Google is also using AI to create a recommendation engine called Game Finder. For people who have embraced AI to create their own apps, the Play Store will soon offer a way to host and share those creations privately.

Google launched Ask Play in 2025 as a small chatbot interface on the Play Store listings. It allows you to ask questions about an app or game, either by typing them manually or choosing from a list of suggested queries. Starting today, Ask Play is expanding into a more general way to search for apps and games. You ask the robot questions and it generates recommendations that may include detailed comparison charts. Gemini will implement a similar capability soon.

Google’s other AI discovery announcement focuses on gaming. The new Game Finder feature is based on all the usage data that Google’s app platform has accumulated over the years, offering insights into how 1.2 billion people play games on Android. Create a profile called Gamer DNA and match you with gamers who have similar DNA.

You can fine-tune your DNA profile by rating the games you’ve played, which supposedly leads to more accurate recommendations. There will be playlists of games to read, along with various contextual lists, such as relaxing and trending titles, and more specific lists based on mechanics you’ve seen in previous games. Game Finder also lets you add or remove tags to further fine-tune the games Google’s AI suggests. Google says you’ll eventually be able to ask Game Finder for fairly specific gaming preferences, but it’s unclear how much customization will be available at launch. Game Finder and Gamer DNA are launching today in the US, with other markets to follow “soon.”
