The agreement between the two companies sees Roadchef operate 12 BP service stations. Each site will continue to supply BP-branded fuels, as well as BP’s wild bean coffee offering.
Tim Gittins, CEO of Roadchef, He explained that the agreement will allow BP to expand the rollout of BP Pulse ultra-fast electric vehicle charging across all Roadchef sites, supporting Roadchef’s commitment to deliver 1,000 charging stations by 2030.
“Under the UK’s transition to zero-emission vehicles, motorway service areas will play a key role in improving the availability of on-road charging points,” Gittens explained, saying the deal will help make charging more accessible to drivers across the Roadchef network.
“It will also include bp-branded service stations under the Roadchef operation, strengthening our fuel and prepared food offer for heavy vehicle and leisure drivers. Together, these changes will help us serve more drivers and give the company the scale and capacity to meet the growing demand for electric vehicle charging across the UK,” summarized the Roadchef CEO.
In October 2024, Roadchef announced its investment in building 650 new fast charging stations at Roadchef motorway service stations in the UK. The initiative was part of a £20bn package that financial services provider Macquarie prepared for an infrastructure offensive in the UK. A year earlier, Gridserve and Roadchef began building ‘Electric Super Hubs’ in Six locations across the UK with over 50 EV chargers.
With the new deal with BP Pulse and Roadchef, Jo Hayward, bp UK vice president of mobility and convenience retail, said: “We are excited to be working with Roadchef, deepening our already strong fueling relationship and bringing together all our offerings to help give drivers what they want, when and where they want it on their journeys.”
