EcoFlow hopes to make a titanic impact with its new line of smaller (but scalable!) residential energy storage, which the company calls a more accessible entry point to its battery backup offerings.

EcoFlow’s new three-model Titan 5000 range of home backup batteries starts relatively small with “just” a single 5 kWh energy storage module that’s enough to keep your fridge, lights and Wi-Fi running while keeping your phone and laptop batteries charged. That’s just the beginning, however, as the system is designed to be easily expanded with the addition of more 5000 Wh modules (hence the name) to meet your more substantial power needs, up to 30 kWh.

The company says that’s enough power to keep the average American home running for two full days without grid power; and that power will (obviously) last much longer if you can keep the HVAC system off and keep energy use to a minimum.

All three Titan models start with a 5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery and can be expanded to the maximum 30 kWh capacity mentioned above by stacking more modular batteries, but differ in power output and capacity for solar panel system integration.

The base-spec Titan 5000 Classic offers up to 4kW of 120V output, while the Titan 5000 boosts that continuous power up to 7.2kW with available 120V and 240V split-phase output.

Meanwhile, the flagship Titan 5000 Plus also promises 7.2 kW of continuous power, but can reach up to 10 kW of peak power when combined with solar power, thanks to EcoFlow’s X-Fusion 2.0 PV Boost technology. The Titan 5000 and Plus can also be paired with the EcoFlow Smart Home Panel 10, which the company says can help homeowners add backup power without replacing their main electrical panel or enduring a long and complex installation.

“Whole-home backup has traditionally required households to choose between the energy they want and the cost and complexity they are willing to assume,” explains Brian Essenmacher, U.S. director of business development for EcoFlow. “With TITAN, we are giving more families a convenient way to get the energy they need, while helping them manage energy more intelligently every day.”

EcoFlow is offering “early birders” the opportunity to secure one of three packages now with a $50 advance payment, saving up to $2,999 in November when it officially launches (and when they are expected to pay off the remaining balance). It’s also worth noting that the FCC clearances for EcoFlow’s three new Titan 5000 systems are dated July 20, before the July 28 FCC restrictions on foreign-produced inverters went into effect.
