On the sidelines of the party conference: The Left condemns attacks on reporters during anti-AfD protests
Left leader Luigi Pantisano has condemned attacks on journalists during protests on the sidelines of the AfD party conference in Erfurt. In principle, Pantisano said in Berlin that he was happy for everyone who was on the streets in Erfurt at the weekend and peacefully protested against the party conference of an “anti-democratic party”. “Nevertheless, I must make it clear that we as a party also clearly state that attacks on journalists are of course to be condemned.”
During the protests on Saturday there were attacks on media workers, the Thuringians police determined. According to police chief Thomas Quittenbaum, three representatives of the “Apollo News” portal were physically attacked and the police provided them with help. A representative of “Junge Freiheit” had his cell phone stolen.
“Apollo News” had previously reported that one of its reporting teams had been attacked by demonstrators. The editor-in-chief wrote on Platform X that one of his employees had been kicked in the back of the head. The left itself had peaceful protests and blockades Erfurt called.
