Music: Dresden Philharmonic goes into the holidays with good results

After an Asian tour through Japan and South Korea, the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra says goodbye to the summer holidays and draws a successful conclusion. «More audience, higher capacity utilization and more young guests are far more than just pleasing metrics for me as director. They show that culture is a social need and not a luxury,” emphasized Philharmonic director Frauke Roth.

People were looking for places where they could experience something together, explained Roth. The great response is also confirmation of the high artistic quality of the Philharmonic, the special atmosphere of the concert hall in the Palace of Culture and a diverse program. Despite difficult economic times, we managed to reach many people. This is a nice tailwind for the 10th anniversary of the new Palace of Culture in 2027.

According to the Philharmonic, concert occupancy increased by two to 90 percent. There were almost 20,000 more visitors than in the 2024/2025 season. The number of elective subscriptions in particular is constantly increasing, and the composition of the audience is also changing noticeably: “The Dresden Philharmonic is in demand among more and more young people.” According to current figures, almost 80 percent of guests are between 18 and 65 years old.
