The newly announced integration allows electric vehicle drivers to find, access and pay for charging at BP Pulse sites through the ChargeHub app. The chargers will also be accessible to users of other e-mobility service providers (eMSPs) and automakers connected to Passport Hub. While the number of charging points and locations has been shared, the announcement does not specify how many are fast or ultra-fast chargers, or whether the 850 points are available through all Passport Hub partners.
Passport Hub is ChargeHub’s roaming platform that connects charging networks with mobility service providers and vehicle manufacturers. It is designed to simplify access to public charging by allowing drivers to use their existing apps and services across multiple networks, rather than registering separately with each charging point operator.
For BP Pulse, the agreement thus expands the reach of its charging network in North America by making its infrastructure accessible through a wider range of third-party platforms. Meanwhile, ChargeHub adds another charging network to its roaming ecosystem.
Sujay Sharma, Vice President of EV Charging, BP Pulse, US, explained: “By partnering with ChargeHub, we are expanding access to the bp pulse network through trusted roaming partners for EV drivers on the road. Charging networks that work better together benefit the entire EV ecosystem and are an important step towards accelerating EV adoption.”
Simon Ouellette, CEO of ChargeHub, added: “When a network like bp pulse chooses to connect via Passport Hub, it’s a strong sign that the hub model has become the way roaming is done in North America. And because it’s a hub, the impact goes far beyond the ChargeHub app: eMSPs and automakers in our ecosystem can now offer their drivers access to bp pulse fast chargers over the connection they already have. When a major network joins unites, the entire ecosystem improves at once.”
