The EGO Power trade group showed up at this week’s EQUIP Expo with a trio of new zero-turn mowers, a commercial-grade 780 CFM leaf blower, and a heavy-duty 16.5″ mower built for the PGX 56V battery system. And, with incentive programs designed to help landscapers make the switch to electric, the timing couldn’t be better.
Visitors to the EGO Commercial booth this week were greeted with a trailer load of new professional-grade power landscaping equipment, an expanded ecosystem of swappable batteries, and a connected equipment platform intended to help landscapers manage their current energy needs and prepare them for future growth. In other words: it was a lot.
“Our focus at EGO Commercial is to develop products that deliver the performance professional landscapers demand so they can maximize productivity and minimize downtime,” said Tim Baker, vice president of product at EGO parent company Chervon. “From professional-grade portable and lawn mowing equipment to scalable charging and fleet management, each component is designed to work together so landscape businesses can get more out of their battery investment across their entire operation.”
The official copy addresses some of the basic specifications of the new EGO commercial lawn mowers and walks potential buyers through the basics:
ZTR commercial seated: Designed for demanding commercial grass cutting, the sit-down ZTR delivers up to 44 gas-equivalent horsepower and cutting speeds up to 12 mph, with durable 48-, 54-, and 60-inch deck options. Powered by up to four high-capacity removable batteries, the mower features a built-in 700-watt DC-to-DC charger, allowing professionals to recharge EGO 56V ARC portable lithium batteries directly in the field.
Commercial ZTR Standing: The walk-behind ZTR offers up to 44 gas-equivalent horsepower and cutting speeds up to 12 mph, with durable 48-, 54-, and 60-inch deck options. Equipped with up to four high-capacity removable batteries, the mower features a built-in 700-watt DC-to-DC charger for convenient manual battery charging.
ZTR Compact Commercial Floor Standing: Designed for equipment and properties where maneuverability is important, the Compact Stand-On offers up to 26 gas-equivalent horsepower with durable 32- and 36-inch deck options and cutting speeds up to 9 mph.
Once you’ve leveled the lawn and laid down grass strips on your new EGO mower, you’ll have a pair of new commercial-grade PGX portable power tools to help clean up customers’ rough edges, too, with lightweight, easy-to-handle designs that ECO says help reduce operator fatigue, improve maneuverability, and make daily tasks easier for you and your crew.
780 CFM Commercial Blower: For precision cleaning and everyday applications, the blower combines controlled cleaning performance with a lightweight 4.8-pound basic tool design to help reduce fatigue during repetitive tasks. Delivering air speeds up to 190 mph and 27 newtons of thrust force, it provides the maneuverability and control needed for detailed jobs such as clearing grass clippings from mulch beds without interruption, as well as routine post-mowing cleanup.
16.5″ Front Motor String Trimmer: Designed with operator comfort in mind, the 6.6-pound trimmer features a carbon fiber shaft and direct-drive brushless motor for excellent balance and reduced vibration. With 28cc gas-equivalent power, it offers commercial-grade performance in a lightweight design that’s comfortable to ride throughout the workday.
The lineup is impressive enough on its own, but the big news here is the improved PGX battery management system backed by an app that the company says allows businesses to configure charging based on the size and power demands of their operations.
Long lasting battery
Designed for large, high-demand landscaping operations, EGO Commercial’s new 3200W PGX hub offers 30 kWh (!) of overnight charging capacity and supports up to 48 (!!) three-port 56V (!!!) ARC-Lithium battery bases. A dedicated ZTR connection further expands the system’s versatility, allowing landscaping companies to charge both the brand’s mowers and portable tools with a single “onboard” battery and charging system.
Perhaps more impressive than the power specs themselves is the fact that everything is designed to run on a standard 120V outlet and a 15A circuit. “With PGX commercial charging solutions,” the text reads, “no costly electrical upgrades are required.”
EGO’s Commercial Fleet App offers lawn crews another tool to keep their electrical equipment running efficiently, allowing fleet managers to remotely monitor equipment location and usage, manage battery and charging settings, and receive status alerts designed to maximize uptime.
