The site is strategically located between two of the city’s main traffic arteries, the A-42 and the M-40. The facility is designed to service both passenger cars and commercial vehicles. According to city authorities, the Electra cargo park can accommodate 22 passenger cars and four commercial vehicles of categories N1 and N2 at the same time: electric vans and trucks with a maximum weight of up to 12 tons.
Users can reserve a charging point up to an hour in advance through the Electra app, allowing them to plan their charging process and reduce waiting times. The new charging station is located in an area with numerous shops and service companies, such as supermarkets, restaurants and gyms, allowing customers to combine a visit with a charging session at Electra.
To provide extremely high charging power, Electra uses in the new center the modular and decentralized charging system Hypercharger HYC1000, which the manufacturer Alpitronic presented at the beginning of 2025. This system is divided into central power units (Power Cabinets) and separate charging points (Dispensers), which allows dynamic distribution of energy.
In addition to the ultra-fast charging stations, the technical equipment of the charging park includes a photovoltaic canopy. The installed solar system has a capacity of 100 kWp. There is also a battery storage system that absorbs peak loads and is intended to enable the high power output of the charging stations (up to 600 kW) during ongoing operation without excessively straining the local power grid.
An investment of three million euros
The charging park is located on a municipal plot of about 5,500 square meters, which the city council awarded to Electra as a concession for the construction and operation of this infrastructure. The agreed period of operation is 15 years and can be extended by a further five years. According to the Madrid City Council, Electra has invested around three million euros in the site.
“We want to bring ultra-fast charging to the heart of the city so that drivers can charge quickly, easily and reliably where they really need it,” says Bastien Verot, CEO of Electra Spain. “This project demonstrates that collaboration between companies and public institutions is essential to accelerate the transition towards sustainable mobility.”
With the launch in Madrid, the French company further expands its presence in the Spanish market. Currently, Electra operates 18 Electralineras throughout the country, with eight branches only in the Community of Madrid.
As part of its expansion strategy, the company has set ambitious goals for the coming years. By 2027, Electra plans to expand its network of fast charging points throughout Spain to a total of 50 points.
