Already in August, EVgo had announced its entry into Tesla’s Supercharger for Business program. Now, the first site of this expansion plan has come into operation. It is located in Illinois, on property owned by the real estate company Regency Centers, with which EVgo has been collaborating for some time in the development of charging infrastructure.
The sites will use Tesla’s V4 Superchargers, which are being integrated into the operator’s network under the name ‘EVgo Superchargers’. EVgo remains the owner and operator of the stations and also sets the prices.
The hardware supports charging powers up to 500 kW and voltages up to 1000 volts. Using Tesla’s Magic Dock, both vehicles with NACS and CCS connectors can be charged without needing their own adapter. The longer cables of the V4 generation are also designed to better adapt to the different positions of the vehicles’ charging ports.
EVgo expands the NACS offer in parallel
The Chicago site is tied to a broader strategy aimed at attracting more NACS vehicle drivers to EVgo’s network. The operator had already started installing NACS connectors at its own fast charging stations in 2025.
By the end of 2026, EVgo aims to have 500 NACS charging points nationwide. The newly implemented Tesla Superchargers will complement this expansion. Over the next two years, at least one NACS connector will be available at all EVgo sites built in 2023 or later.
For Tesla drivers, the new EVgo Superchargers will integrate directly into the Tesla Trip Planner and vehicle navigation. Since the beginning of September, regular EVgo sites with NACS connectors have already appeared there, provided that third-party charging stations are enabled. The first Supercharger sites are being established at properties owned by Regency Centers, primarily in shopping centers with supermarkets, retail stores and restaurants. In August, EVgo announced sites with up to 20 charging points for the program.
The new location, with twelve charging points, thus marks the practical starting point of the project. EVgo plans to integrate several hundred Tesla Superchargers into its own network. The company has not yet revealed specific figures or a full timeline for the additional sites.
