Jungheinrich’s new electric forklifts in its EFG M series are designed to address a wide range of material handling requirements across the APAC region. The company ranks second in Europe and third in the world in the materials handling equipment, storage and material flow engineering sectors. In the APAC region, the German manufacturer has established eight direct sales units and in more than 14 partner countries.

The company says its three-wheeled EFG MB covers load capacities of 1.6 to 2.0 tonnes and is “designed for maneuverability in tight spaces.” Its EFG MC four-wheel forklift covers load capacities from 2.0 to 3.0 tons and provides “stability and precise control for indoor and outdoor transport and stacking.” According to the manufacturer, the standard forklifts reach heights of up to 6,500 mm.

“Different operations have different requirements. With the EFG M series, customers can configure the truck according to their application, workload and operators, whether they need greater maneuverability for tight warehouse spaces or a stable and powerful truck for demanding transport and stacking jobs,” said Lisa Jing Xue, general manager of Jungheinrich’s Qingpu plant, which is located in the Shanghai area and celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2026.

“We conduct extensive customer research to understand what the market needs. Customers can invest in the performance required today and add more capabilities as their applications demand,” he added.

The forklifts are offered with two different performance packages. The EfficientPLUS option is said to “balance performance and energy use for everyday driving”, while Jungheinrich says its drive&liftPLUS “offers higher driving and lifting performance for high-performance operations”. The company notes that its drive&liftPLUS package is standard on models with load capacities of 2.5 to 3.0 tons.

Customers in the APAC region can choose from 346 to 690 Ah lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries, which the company says should suit different utilization levels and shift patterns. Energy recovery mechanisms during braking should extend uptime and reduce energy costs by up to 30 percent per shift, the manufacturer claims.

“Each EFG M truck is backed by Jungheinrich’s global team of over 6,100 trained customer service technicians, backed by genuine Jungheinrich parts and product-specific expertise. Because the series uses proven Jungheinrich components and integrated truck data, we can support faster parts supply and more effective maintenance planning,” says Madhukar Kaissary, Senior Director Customer Service, Jungheinrich APAC.

Jungheinrich’s Asia-Pacific electric counterweight portfolio focuses on the configurable core of its EFG M series. These vehicles are offered alongside the company’s AntOn “for simple, value-focused applications,” the company says, and its FalcOn technology platform for the future electric handling of heavy vehicles.

The German manufacturer recently started Practical tests of sodium ion batteries in commercial vehicles with selected customers. The company aims to validate the performance and reliability of this new battery technology under a wide range of operating conditions. Last year, the Hamburg-based company announced that it wanted to significantly accelerate the electrification of its global customer service fleet. By 2030, more than 3,500 service vehicles will be electric, corresponding to one in two customer service vehicles in the entire group’s fleet.
