Monthly wind generation in the first nine months of 2026 was on average 68% higher compared to the same period in 2025 in ISO New England (ISO-NE):
- Monthly generation from wind energy was highest in September this year at 668.9 gigawatt hours (GWh), more than double generation levels since September 2025 and almost 10% more than this year’s previous peak in March.
- The increase in wind generation is a result of increasing capacity additions in the ISO-NE region. Regional wind capacity has increased 47% so far in 2026 to 2.5 gigawatts, following a 12% capacity increase in 2025.
- Daily wind generation peaked on October 6, 2026, at approximately 47.3 GWh, up 1% from the previous peak that occurred on September 10, 2026.
- Total wind generation during the first nine months of 2026 was 4,619 GWh, 1.9% more than last year’s annual total of 4,533 GWh.
