Juiced Bikes has been one of the leaders in the long-range and durable electric bike category. Their bikes often stretch the definition of an electric bike, even consistently landing in the electric moped category with motors that exceed the 750 watts typically allowed in the US for electric bikes.

In 2024, Juiced Bikes filed for bankruptcy and its assets were auctioned off. After several months of uncertainty, the buyer emerged as Phoenix, Arizona-based Lectric eBikes in early 2025.

This year, Juiced Bikes returns with a revamped version of the Juiced Scrambler. It is a motorcycle-style electric bicycle that is popular with teenagers throughout the United States. It comes from the factory with a single mechanical gear and an electric motor that absolutely generates the power with impressive amounts of torque.

The juicy coder

Out of the box, the Scrambler is configured as a Class 2 e-bike, with motor power limited to 750 watts and motor-assisted speed limited to 20 mph. You can still go over 20 miles per hour, but the engine won’t provide any assistance if you go faster. Those limits check the box on the legal documentation; However, the Scrambler was clearly designed to far exceed those numbers.

The bike’s true power is hidden in the advanced settings where you can unlock a special racing mode which is almost certainly the goal of any teenager looking to get one of these. Even when you leave it at factory settings like we did, it’s not really ergonomically designed for pedaling. The seat is too wide to allow normal pedaling for more than a few seconds.

This is primarily a function of the single-speed shifting, which limits the rider’s ability to contribute by pedaling at higher speeds. The seat doesn’t help much either as it’s more of a motorcycle inspired seat which makes pedaling awkward and a bit awkward.

That said, it’s a great bike for teen riders to get around town. Of course, they’ll do this primarily with the throttle, which is in line with what this bike and, even more broadly, the Juiced Bikes brand were designed for.

The Juiced Scrambler’s rear hub motor has a maximum power of 1,764 watts and 90 Nm of torque. The high torque explains how perky it is off the line, and I can only imagine what it feels like without the street legal limitations. Race mode is clearly designed for off-road use only, but there’s nothing stopping owners from zipping around town with it enabled either.

Assembling the encoder

We took it out and cruised around town and found the suspension and seat to be quite comfortable as a throttle-only cruiser.

The Scrambler takes a different approach to the display, ditching the handlebar-mounted display common on most e-bikes in favor of a frame-integrated display that sits flush with the top tube. Its colors are easy to read even in bright light; however, the small font makes it a bit challenging for older eyes or taller riders.

We found the battery life to be more than sufficient as most of the movement of the bike is done with the help of the battery and not with the help of my legs. The 998 watt-hour/19.2 Ah 52-volt battery has a range of 60 miles per charge, and based on our testing, this seems reasonable.

If you tend to lean a little more toward the throttle, your range will decrease, with a range per charge on throttle alone of around 40 miles in our testing. Juiced Bikes also offers a dual battery hardtail version of the Scrambler where you should expect just under double these range numbers, but of course what you get in the real world will depend on how much effort is coming from your legs and how much effort is coming from the battery.

The dual suspension is plush and adjustable, allowing riders to customize the bike’s comfort to their exact needs. Comfort is limited because the seat is fixed, meaning it cannot be adjusted to fit taller or shorter passengers.

This can be mitigated somewhat because the length of the dual seat allows you to slide forward or backward to find the perfect driving position for the length of your legs. The double seat also means you could probably fit an extra passenger in the back; although there are no pegs for the passenger’s feet to hang from.

The Juiced Scrambler comes with a burly set of 20″×4.5″ CST BFT ADV knobby tires that could easily be at home on an electric motorcycle. These bulbous, knobby tires provide plenty of traction on and off the road, as well as a noticeable amount of additional comfort that makes driving the Scrambler much more enjoyable.

With all that power under the hood, it’s comforting to know that the Scrambler comes equipped with Talon T4 four-piston hydraulic disc brakes. Combined with the knobby tires, they provide reassuring stopping power, but the suspension can make you feel like you’re going to lean forward if you stop suddenly.

That’s normal for electric motorcycles, but it may seem a little sudden for riders who aren’t used to the amount of speed and power a bike like this can generate.

In general

Everything about this bike feels premium, from the frame to the welds, paint, plastic coating, lighting, braking, motor, power, display, and so on. It’s an extremely well built bike that looks like it could withstand years of use and abuse. Damn, this thing looks like it would put a smile back on your face after a long day lapping around the track and asking for more.

The new Juiced Scrambler is backed by an impressive three-year warranty, comes with free shipping and if their customer service is anything like the fantastic team offered by Lectric eBikes – and we think it is – this is an extremely strong value proposition if that’s the style of e-bike you’re looking for.

That’s really the big deciding factor here. If you’re looking for an electric bike to pedal around town, this probably isn’t the bike for you. But if you’re looking for something that’s a great commuter platform where you primarily use the throttle for power, it could be a great option.

The real gray area with this bike is when it comes to teenagers who are undoubtedly the target market for this bike. Out of the box, it has great power and capability, especially when you turn it up to power level 4. Know that whoever rides this bike can control themselves and ride it safely.

At the same time, you have to think about what would happen if they unlocked career mode. This can be done responsibly as part of an overall progression that takes them from a traditional bicycle to a more mobile platform on the way to a larger vehicle, and in that case this is a perfect transitional platform.

It provides a ridiculous amount of mobility without all the registration, licensing and insurance overhead that comes with purchasing an electric motorcycle. You can drive it around town and learn to navigate vehicles on the road while achieving a level of mobility we could only dream of as kids.
