Montreal Metropolitan Airport now has 120 electric vehicle chargers online, with another 48 on the way as the airport expands.
The installation at Montreal Metropolitan Airport’s YHU terminal uses Wallbox Pulsar Pro EV chargers to serve employees, visitors and airport operations. According to Wallbox, the next batch will bring the total to 168 charging points once the building currently under construction is completed.
The airport, known as MET, is in Longueuil, Quebec, and offers more than 2,600 parking spaces in short-, medium- and long-term lots.
Wallbox lists the maximum power of the North American Level 2 Pulsar Pro at 11.5 kW, although the ad does not specify airport charging speeds.
There is also a practical challenge in installing so many chargers: managing how much electricity they consume in total.
The airport facility uses Wallbox’s Power Sharing technology to divide available power between groups of chargers. That allows the site to operate within its electrical capacity rather than treating each plugged-in car as a separate demand for total power.
Foresta’s software handles centralized shipper management and supports payment processing. Quebec electrical products agency edp électrique coordinated the integration, with EG Électrique and Westburne also involved in the project.
Wallbox has not announced charging prices or an end date for the additional 48 chargers.
