The Chamber of Commerce and Industry surveyed regional companies. A good half have too few orders.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – Almost a quarter of regional companies want to cut jobs. This is reported by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The numbers come from survey data. The IHK surveys companies three times a year to get an idea of the economy in the district. Local companies evaluate both their current economic situation and their future prospects. The result for this spring: exactly 100 points. This means that half of the companies rate the situation positively and half negatively. Since the last survey at the beginning of the year, the value has fallen by six points. For comparison: the long-term average in the district is 117 points.

The 106 points in the last survey still indicated faint hopes for economic growth. The current situation is stagnating. Klaus Bauer, spokesman for the Oberland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says: “The economy is no longer showing signs of recovery. The hopes that were still evident in the economy at the beginning of the year have unfortunately been completely dashed.”

Hardly anyone wants to invest – the economy demands major reforms

A good half of companies are currently suffering from too few orders. This is also reflected in the companies’ investment plans: only 22 percent say they will invest more money in the future. Many complain about the high prices for raw materials and energy. In order for the economy to recover, “a convincing reform package” is now needed for taxes, pensions and the labor market. “Only with sweeping reforms will the economy be able to get back on track,” says Bauer. He has hopes for the job market. “In order to finally stand up to the uncertainty that dominates everything, we need more willingness to compromise and movement in politics without any ifs and buts,” explains Bauer.
