Dana Diekmeier shared a health update on her daughter Delani (15). The cancer-stricken teenager suffered another setback.
Heidelberg – There are challenging months behind Dana Diekmeier. The still wife of Bundesliga legend Dennis – the two announced their separation a few months ago – is a mother of four. Her eldest child, daughter Delani, has been battling cancer for around a year and a half. The 15-year-old is suffering from a rare, aggressive tumor. Now Dana Diekmeier has given a health update – and unfortunately it is not positive.
While the teenager is a very talented show jumper and is advancing her career, in the background she is fighting the insidious disease day after day. Unfortunately, setbacks are part of their everyday lives. “Many of you regularly ask about Delani. That’s why I would like to give you a little health update today,” writes Dana Diekmeier on Instagram. “Fortunately, she is doing very well at the moment. She is physically fit, active and can enjoy her everyday life.”

The former player’s wife continued that there would be a check-up in Frankfurt every one or two weeks. “A few weeks ago, Delani also received immunotherapy via infusions. This treatment has now been completed. She continues to take many medications every day, which she is currently tolerating well.”
The 15-year-old has to undergo CT or MRI examinations every four or six weeks. Dana Diekmeier is concerned about the development of lung metastases. “The metastases cannot currently be controlled as we would like. Unfortunately, they are getting bigger and more will appear. This development is difficult to accept and hurts us a lot. Nevertheless, Delani is doing well at the moment – and that is exactly what we are focusing on.”
The rider has been using all therapeutic measures to improve her health for months. Unfortunately, as Mama Dana reveals, it is very limited. “Unfortunately, there are currently very few treatment options that are effective for her condition.” The young woman’s fight goes into the next round. Giving up is not an option for the brave Delani. (is)
