The Monte Mare Masters starts on Monday at TC Schliersee with many ranked players. Exciting encounters are guaranteed.
Schliersee – Schliersee opens. From Monday, the Monte Mare Masters, worth 20,000 euros, will run as part of the DTB Premium Tour. The most traditional German tennis tournament is entering its 74th edition, and a look at the registration lists shows that it is again well attended. Top-class matches can be expected for women and men.
The field, as it was already clear before the registration deadline on Friday, is once again an exciting mix of ambitious young athletes and passionate veterans who have been regular guests in the Oberland for years. It is this mixture that makes the traditional tournament. Plus the special atmosphere of a professional but family environment.
Chief referee Alexander Dittrich from Forstern will be there for the sixth time this year. And fellow referee Lukas Eilert, who now practices as a doctor in Hamburg, doesn’t let Schliersee get away from him. He took a vacation home in Rosenheim to coincide with the Masters.
“Last year’s winner Ivan Nedelko was one of the first players to register,” says tournament director Christian Reicherseder, for whom it is his 14th in organizing the tournament after 16 years as a player. With the tireless TC chairman Werner Zehrer, public relations worker Julia Seemüller, youth leader Martin Klingenschmid as an important backup for all areas, Brigitte Riepl, Jens and Tanja Pohl and their energetic team, they have everything sorted.
The courts are in optimal condition, the ball children have practiced, refrigerators are full, and a tombola is stocked with valuable prizes from the local business community. “Everyone pitches in, everyone helps, it’s fun,” says Reicherseder. The proceeds go towards our own youth work.
TC Schliersee is once again receiving support from Hausham. The SG will make its places available until Thursday, and if there are any postponements due to weather, the tournament director knows that he will also be supported by the neighbors afterwards.
He is also satisfied with the reports. “It’s looking brutally good,” say the organizers happily, although they are aware that one or two people might still miss out if they get a place at one of the higher-ranked ITF tournaments. Nevertheless, the quality at the 74th Schliersee tennis tournament is high. In the men’s main field, everyone is in the top 200 of the German rankings. Last year’s winner Nedelko (TC Metzingen) is definitely expected. Jannik Maute (TC Weißenhof), winner in 2024, and his final opponent Sidney Zick (Oberhausener THC) have also registered.
The women’s field is “super good”. “Very deep in density and with at least 50 players from the German rankings,” said Reicherseder. Former world number one player Tetyana Perebiynis (TC Neuhaus) will compete with a wildcard. The strongest player from the region is not there. Vincent Dullinger is playing in Slovenia at the ITF Future in Nova Gorica, which is at the same time.
New this year is live scoring, with which the audience on the court and those interested in tennis at home can follow the current score at any time. The players no longer use a manual counter during the changeover breaks, but instead enter the current score into a specially prepared cell phone. The partially commented live stream from last year will no longer be available. The provider at the time discontinued the service and possible alternatives would be too costly.
Entry is free for the qualification and preliminary rounds. Admission on Friday and Saturday is ten euros – including a 3.50 euro consumption voucher.
