Two motorcyclists were seriously injured after failed overtaking attempts just a few hours after each other. First there was a crash on the B402 near Meppen (Emsland district) on Saturday afternoon. A 74-year-old driver intended to turn into a parking lot like this police communicates. At the same time, the 61-year-old motorcyclist behind started to overtake. There was a collision in which the 61-year-old was seriously injured and his 11-year-old passenger was slightly injured. Both were taken to a hospital.

According to the police, there was also a serious motorcycle accident in Steinfeld (Vechta district) in the evening. A 60-year-old driver overlooked an oncoming motorcycle while overtaking a car with a trailer. Here too, a collision was unavoidable, resulting in the 24-year-old motorcyclist being so seriously injured that he was flown to a hospital in a rescue helicopter. However, there is no danger to life. An investigation was started against the driver for negligent bodily harm.
