During a shootout in Denmark a person was killed. The suspected perpetrator was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, the police said. A police officer who was also injured is in stable condition. The person killed was a civilian. No further information about him was initially available.
The police said a fire had broken out in a building in Nørresundby, north of Aalborg. When the police arrived in the afternoon, the officers were shot at and returned fire. The exchange of fire has now ended.
Police Commissioner Claus Danø said the police viewed the crime as an isolated incident. The entire course of events and in particular the background to the exchange of fire still needs to be clarified. The police are on site with a large contingent. Investigators should stay there for some time.
