SV Elversberg plays 1-1 against Swiss champions FC Thun, but injury concerns about Luca Schnellbacher and Luis Seifert dampen the mood.

Elversberg – With the 1-1 draw in the friendly against the Swiss champions FC Thun, SV Elversberg definitely made a small exclamation mark. After the 5-0 win against fifth division club FC Gießen, the game against last season’s surprise team was the first acid test of the new season. But a lot more happened at SVE around the friendly match, including two unpleasant things.

In the draw against Thun, attacker Luca Schnellbacher had to be substituted early due to injury (26th). When Filimon Gerezgiher (28th) took the SVE lead, the veteran was no longer on the pitch; an exact diagnosis is still pending after the blow to the ankle.

There’s a lot going on around SV Elversberg’s draw against Thun: two injured, one returnee and one departure

However, there is already bitter certainty with Luis Seifert. The central defender had already been seriously injured in training before the test match, but it is now clear: the 22-year-old will probably be out for three months with a torn syndesmotic ligament – a bitter setback for the young challenger in Elversberg’s backline, especially since he was out for months last season.

Meanwhile, there is good news from offensive player Raif Adam. The right winger, who was recently sidelined due to a hip injury, is now doing light training again. The 22-year-old was not yet an option for the friendly against Thun, but that will almost certainly change during the pre-season preparations.

However, Mohammad Mahmoud’s role will no longer change. The attacker didn’t play a single competitive minute at SV Elversberg last season and is now facing departure. According to “Kronen Zeitung”, the center forward is moving to the Austrian second division club SV Austria Salzburg, and the 21-year-old is said to have already completed his medical check. (tos)
