The German content creator Mr.fujicard raises his voice particularly loudly, reaching a large audience online with videos about Pokémon cards. The creator emphasizes in his statement that for him the incident goes far beyond a simple slip of the tongue. “A Japanese Pikachu card is shown there. The presenter says: ‘Chinese, I mean, it’s all the same anyway.’ And behind it says ‘Ching Chang Chong’. I mean really, what year are we living in that that’s their first reaction,” he explains in the clip.
What particularly bothers him is that the saying seems like a joke in the situation: “It definitely seemed like she found it really funny. And all I can really say is: It’s not a harmless joke. It’s the reproduction of racist stereotypes that many Asian people really experience every day.” In the comments under his video, numerous users agree with this point of view.
