Hort Sonnenschein won the competition for the most beautiful upcycled bicycle in Eching. His sun wheel received 42 percent of a good 200 votes.

Eching – With an artistic project in the climate spring, a working group of the climate advisory board successfully campaigned in Eching schools and care facilities to give discarded bicycles a new purpose. The wheels were transformed into artistic eye-catchers. The Heidestraße community center, the Sankt Andreas children’s house and the children’s house worked as a team to impressively and colorfully “upcycle” discarded bikes and give them a new life.

As a special incentive, the “Colorful Bikes for Eching” working group with Anita Nadas, Pamela Winkler, Kathrin Middelhoff and Konrad Brand came up with a competition for the most beautiful bike and, with the help of the community, called for a month-long vote. The participating institutions and other cycling enthusiasts were recently eagerly awaiting the official award ceremony and award for the art bike with the highest number of votes on Bürgerplatz.

The sun wheel of Hortes Sonnenschein received 42 percent of the 200 votes cast and was therefore voted number one unchallenged and by a large margin. Mayor Michael Steigerwald didn’t miss the opportunity to personally congratulate the winners on their success with a certificate and a specially created “colorful wheel puzzle”.

Steigerwald admired the great wealth of ideas and thanked young and old for their creative achievements and the Climate Advisory Board, ADFC, schools, daycare centers and after-school care centers for their commitment and cooperation. He praised: “I am very pleased with how much creativity and commitment our children have shown in this campaign. The art bikes are a daily reminder of how much fun sustainable mobility can be.”

Bicycle map provides information about locations

Climate advisory councilor Anita Nadas was pleased about the “enthusiasm, great participation and passion” in the participation. A special “bicycle map” provides information about the “Colorful Wheels” locations throughout the municipality. Most of them are in front of the respective facilities in which they were created. There are also bikes at the ASZ, at the shared bench on Dietersheimer Straße or at the Rewe.

A very first tour of the new art objects – the two districts of Dietersheim and Günzenhausen were excluded – took place immediately after the award ceremony under the direction of the ADFC, starting at Bürgerplatz. As a special highlight, a wooden sign with a funny or stimulating and thoughtful impulse is attached to each object.
