Society: The federal government wants to strengthen a sense of home – keeping an eye on everyday problems

The federal government wants to better understand everyday problems on site and thus strengthen the feeling of home in rural regions and cities. “Our homeland belongs to those who care about coexistence, not to those who organize against each other,” said the minister Alois Rainer when presenting an agenda for homeland politics in Chorin, Brandenburg. The CSU politician’s agriculture department is responsible for the homeland area in the black-red government.

An important part of the agenda entitled “Together it is home” should be the ministry’s “homeland dialogues”. This is planned together with states, municipalities, associations and other partners. In addition, a “Heimatreport”, a representative survey in town and country, is to be presented this year in order to determine views and areas of action.

Equal living conditions as a goal

Rainer said: “We want to create more freedom on site, reduce unnecessary bureaucracy and enable decisions where they have an impact.” According to the ministry, the aim of the agenda is to create effective municipalities, equal living conditions and fair opportunities throughout Germany. A new “Federal Homeland Prize” is intended to honor people and initiatives who are particularly committed to their homeland and social interaction.

According to the ministry, 57 percent of people in Germany live in rural regions. Among others, with many medium-sized companies, almost half of Germany’s gross national product (47 percent) is generated there.
