The Nuremberg trams are still largely at a standstill at the start of the morning rush hour. The Verkehrs- Aktiengesellschaft (VAG) announced that operations have now been resumed on a trial basis on the first route. Passengers can therefore use the trams every ten minutes on the route from Worzeldorfer Straße via Landgraben-Straße to Plärrer.

Further sections will follow gradually. How soon this will happen is currently not clear, said a spokeswoman. Before operations can fully resume, the routes must be completely cleaned. That should take a few more days.

The heat was in Nuremberg soften the bitumen that serves as a filler between the rails and the road. The viscous mass had wrapped itself around the wheels of the trains and thereby contaminated the rails and running gear. The VAG then stopped tram operations at the weekend.
